The Caedmon School is an independent, coeducational Montessori school on Manhattan's Upper East Side (Yorkville), founded in 1962 as the first Montessori school in New York City. It spans the full arc of early childhood, from Beginners (toddlers around 1 year 8 months) through Fifth Grade, pairing time-tested Montessori methods with a progressive elementary program and a rich slate of specialist classes (Spanish, science, technology, violin, music, art, P.E., martial arts, swimming). All-inclusive 2026-27 tuition runs from $24,000 for part-time Beginners to $67,500 for Grades 1-5, with need-based Flexible Tuition aid available. Roughly 225 students; about 40% of families are international. At Grade 5, graduates exmit to competitive NYC independent and public middle schools including Brearley, Chapin, Dalton, Collegiate, Horace Mann, and Spence.
