Family Annex Nursery School is a small, not-for-profit parent cooperative in a Morningside Heights (UWS) brownstone, founded in 1982 and affiliated with Columbia University. Its Reggio Emilia-inspired, emergent curriculum serves about 39 children ages 17 months through Pre-K across three classes (Toddlers, Nursery, and Pre-K), with a dedicated art Studio/atelierista and a weekly music specialist. The 11-month program (September through July) offers half-day, school-day, and full-day/extended schedules to 5:45 PM, and holds NAEYC Accreditation+. Parents are active partners, serving on committees that sustain the cooperative community.

Reggio Emilia-inspired emergent curriculum. An independent, not-for-profit, nonsectarian parent cooperative incorporated in 1982. Curriculum is emergent and evolves annually based on children's interests and questions; teachers and children collaborate on long-term research projects using the 'Cycle of Inquiry' and the concept of the 'hundred languages of children' (Loris Malaguzzi's 'Nothing without joy'). Parents are active partners who serve on committees.
