Manhattan Schoolhouse at 1624 First Avenue is the founding location of a five-site Reggio Emilia-inspired program on the Upper East Side and in Chelsea. This flagship Yorkville site is dedicated to the youngest children, serving infants and toddlers from 3 months to 2 years old in small groups (roughly 4 children per teacher for infants and 5 for toddlers). The curriculum emphasizes exploration, imagination, and creativity, with daily walks to neighborhood parks, freshly cooked meals starting in the toddler room, and enrichment in music, art, movement, and language. Enrollment is rolling and year-round, and families typically move up into the group's 3-K, Pre-K, and UPK programs at its nearby preschool locations.
