Rudolf Steiner School, founded in 1928, is New York City's original Waldorf school, set in a townhouse campus on the Upper East Side just off Central Park. It serves roughly 299 coeducational students from a Parent-Child program (age 2) and Nursery through Grade 12, with a nonsectarian Waldorf approach that emphasizes play-based early learning, the arts, music, movement (eurythmy), and hands-on work, introducing academics developmentally. Classes are small (about 22 students) with a low ~7:1 student-teacher ratio, and need-based tuition assistance is available for grades K-12.
