Sibling & legacy

TriBeCa Community School is a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool for children ages 2 to 5, founded in 2006 at 22 Ericsson Place in TriBeCa. Learning is emergent and project-based: teachers observe and document children's interests and design provocative environments, while on-site Ateliers led by a teaching artist support expression through the 'Hundred Languages' of painting, music, science, storytelling and theater. Programs range from 2-day mornings to full days (with nap for 2s), with generous ratios (4:1 for 2s) and phase-in periods. Graduates place strongly into downtown and Manhattan independent schools, District 2 public schools, and G&T programs, with 92% admitted to their first-choice ongoing program in 2025-26.

Culture & Community
Reggio Emilia-inspired, grounded in constructivism and social constructivism. Teachers act as researchers who co-construct knowledge alongside children through observation and documentation. An emergent, inquiry-based curriculum grows from children's interests; the 'Hundred Languages' philosophy encourages expression through painting, sculpting, music, science, storytelling and theater in on-site Ateliers led by an Atelierista. Kindergarten-readiness skills (math, literacy, science, social studies) are integrated into hands-on, project-based investigations and neighborhood exploration.
